Tvilight’s smart street lighting solution supports SOHAR Port & Freezone’s sustainability ambitions, road safety and efficient lighting operations. Since the initial deployment in 2020, the project has expanded, bringing additional areas into the connected lighting network managed through CityManager.

As a major gateway for international trade, SOHAR Port & Freezone places safety, operational efficiency and sustainability at the heart of its development. Its roads experience varying levels of nighttime traffic, creating an opportunity to align street lighting with actual use while maintaining comfortable visibility for road users.

Werken met Tvilight and its partner Mustafa Sultan Enterprises, SOHAR sought a light-on-demand solution that would reduce energy consumption, support safe movement and enable centralised lighting management. As the port and freezone expanded, these capabilities also needed to extend to additional areas.

Daarom hebben we een oplossing gevonden voor realtime controle van straatverlichting in de betreffende gebieden.

Het resultaat

Following the upgrade from conventional streetlights to LED lighting, SOHAR Port & Freezone introduced Tvilight’s connected lighting solution in 2020. CitySense Plus bewegingssensoren en intelligent outdoor lighting controllers brought light-on-demand operation to the initial deployment.

The solution adapts illumination to activity, increasing light levels when movement is detected and returning to predefined dimming levels during quieter periods. This helps provide suitable visibility for road users while reducing energy consumption and unnecessary nighttime illumination.

Since then, the project has expanded to include additional areas across the port and freezone. CityManager brings the growing lighting network into one central platform, enabling the authorities to monitor connected assets, manage lighting profiles and control individual luminaires.

CityManager’s Open APIs also provide a foundation for integration with other applications as operational requirements evolve.

Growing with SOHAR

The expansion builds on SOHAR’s existing connected lighting infrastructure, extending centralised management to additional project areas. Dedicated groups and lighting profiles in CityManager help the operational team organise the network and manage lighting according to the requirements of different locations.

This phased approach demonstrates how connected lighting can grow alongside the port and freezone, supporting a consistent overview of an expanding network.
