Knowing that lighting is crucial for people’s perception of safety, the Municipality of Helmond turned to technology that allowed it to provide the residents with sufficient light levels while also preventing energy waste and light pollution. Motion-sensing intelligent street lighting solution from Tvilight expands the potential of public lighting, allowing the city to revitalize its community using light, activate public spaces, and contribute to the creation of safe, walkable, and livable urban environment where everyone feels safe and comfortable even in the absence of daylight. Since the first pilot installation in 2013, the municipality has rolled out the Tvilight solution at various locations throughout the city, in combination with a broad range of luminaire types. Tvilight’s connected intelligent lighting solution with integrated smart sensors has been installed in areas such as public roads, residential neighborhoods, pedestrian zones, parking lots, and bicycle paths, allowing for “light on demand” or dynamic light levels that reflect actual human presence and citizen needs.

Prior to installing the Tvilight motion-sensing light control system, the city has been struggling to match the illumination levels to the needs of the citizens.
