Tvilight: Intelligent Street Lights – The Potential of the Internet of Things

Over the past year, we’ve spent a lot of time looking at the Internet of Things and its potential for real estate. There are a ton of developments happening that will make our buildings, systems and homes smarter and more connected to each other. Tvilight is an example of the potential of these emerging technologies. Tvilight are internet connected smart streetlights that provide light for cars, bikes and pedestrians as they use a path.

This is a very intriguing concept and idea. There are safety modes for city emergencies and device failures. The lights will default to their regular brightness. As you see in the video, the controller would be able to determine how much light for different modes of transportation as well. This system would give a city a very good insight into which streets are busier than others as well and used by which types of traffic, which would be a boon for urban planning.
